In the past 15 years, the number of migrant workers in the Netherlands quadrupled. More excessive growth is expected over the next years. Lots of them stay for a short period of time, and live a life isolated from Dutch society. They do the work few Dutch people want to do or see, even though it is indispensable for our high demanding society.
This film follows Daria in her life in the Netherlands. She is one of many that does the order picking for clothing in a large distribution center. She works and lives in a Polish hub on an industrial terrain in Venray, Limburg. Many migrant workers live in large 'hotels' or holiday homes, arranged and owned by their employment agency. Unfortunately, there are also many that live up to 200 km from their work in dirty sheds, molded salvages or, in worst case, on the street. Daria lives in a holiday home, placed especially for them close to her distribution center. She has to work every day, and mostly at night. She doesn't feel part of Dutch society at all.
2Doc Kort: Dla Deborki (for Deborah) highlights the shadow of the 24-hour society, with it's loneliness and alienation. It offers an insight in the humanity behind our robotized system.
